Joelle says I need to blog more. I'm really trying to but I don't have anything interesting to say. Ha.
School is getting closer & I'm getting pretty nervous. I don't like not knowing what's going on, it stresses me out. And I don't know where I'll be living while I'm there which is strange. I don't know when I'll be finding all of that out. Oy.
Watching the rerun of the MTV movie awards. Andy Samburg sucks. I'm pretty sure he's the worst awards show host in the history of ever. Of course Twilight wins everything, which is good in some categories, but there were a few that I really thought should have gone to another movie. Like, movie of the year went to Twilight, & as much as I loved it I would have given it to The Dark Knight. And Miley Cyrus won for best song in a movie...I think Paramore should have got it for "Decode." And I'm not really sure if Kristin Stewart is on drugs or if she's just naturally awkward. Either way, she's downright weird sometimes.

SKILLET SHOW!!!!!...Part 2!!!!!
Saw Skillet again last night in OKC. SO AMAZING.
I went with Cristen, her brother, & John Dunn. We got to the venue about 4:30, & doors didn't open till 6:30. Cristen & I were sitting against the wall out front & the boys went to walk around, when all of a sudden this huge shadow blocked the sun. We looked up & it was Scottyrock, haha. He was like, "Hi. Wanna come inside?" Of course we did! We waited for the boys to come back & then he took us inside to his "office" to write up our VIP passes. I asked him about interviewing Korey at the show in Wichita Falls next week, & he said, "You know, Korey doesn't do interviews...John does all the press, but you should ask her. Maybe if you ask her instead of me she will do one." On top of that, the Wichita Falls show might not even be happening. Apparently there have been 2 reported cases of swine flu at the University they're supposed to play at, & all public events are cancelled until further notice. "It's ridiculous," Scotty said, "36,000 people have died from the regular flu, but 2 people die of swine flu & the whole country shuts down." Seriously. So hopefully it will all get worked out before then.
We hung out around the merch tables & just waited in the empty venue for the meet & greet at 6:00. Judy, Scotty's wife & Skillet's merchandise manager, came over to me & said, "I know we've met once before, but I thought I'd come over & introduce myself anyway!" I met her once last August for about 5 seconds. I can't believe she remembered that. We chatted a bit about babies, & how she & Scotty can't decide on a name. "If it's a girl, I want to name her Sophia Rose," Judy says, "but Scotty likes Scotty Rose, which I don't think is very feminine at all. And one Scotty is enough!" I said, "I don't know, it could be kind of cute! Like, if you called her Scotti Rose, with an i instead of a y." Her eyes got big & she goes, "You know, that IS cuter! I knew I liked you Cara!" Haha. Jen wandered in for a minute & said hello, & we chatted about the School of Worship for a minute, so that was cool. Korey came in with Xav too & said hello.
When it was time for the meet & greet we got a picture & I told John & Korey I just got back from Wisconsin & that I'm probably going to SOW next year. They were both really excited & asked if it was cold while I was there. "You went to Kenosha?" Ben asked when he heard that. I said yeah & he goes, "You're going to the school of worship aren't you!! That's so cool, you will have such an amazing time. And I help out alot so I'll see you around alot." Maybe Ben doesn't think I'm a creeper. Haha. Scotty called me over then & asked if I had talked to Judy about merchandise. I said no, & he told me to go find her. So I tracked down Judy & told her what Scotty said. "Well, I don't want to ruin your evening," she said, "I know you're with your friends...but we ARE short one person at the merch table..." I told her I would gladly help out if she needed it, & so I worked the table all night. Not quite the front row, but it was a whole other amazing experience. And I could still see the show from the table so that was pretty cool. Judy told me after it was over to take anything I wanted, so I picked up a t-shirt for my cousin & a pair of drum sticks. She also told me they're going to have 3 days off in Tulsa sometime next week, so I gave her my number when I was leaving & told her to call if they need anything at all while they're here. After I helped her do inventory & pack everything up, she said, "Thanks so much again for your help...I'll call you next week!" I hope she does!

Living Light School Of Worship.
So, this weekend my parents & I drove the 12 hours to Kenosha, Wisconsin to check out Living Light Christian Church & the School of Worship. All I can say is, WOW.
We got there saturday evening & met my friend Heidi (who goes to church there, but not the school) for dinner. She told us some basic stuff about the school & gave us a little more info about the church.
Church started at 9:30 on sunday morning, & everyone was soooo welcoming, telling us what to expect ("the music here is a little, uh, JUMPY..."), introducing themselves, asking where we were from. It was a small building, & maybe a congregation of 150-200, but I have never felt more welcome at a church I have never been to before. The music was definitely enough to wake you up in the morning! The worship was a little more...ACTIVE than what we're used to, but it was so cool to see how different people worship & praise God, & it was definitely more up my alley than anything I've seen here so far. The sermon was given by an elder of a sister church from Michigan, & he did a really great job & gave some great analogies to really drive his point home. Afterwards I went to lunch with Heidi & we got a good chance to talk church, music, jobs, & everything in between.
Sunday night I got to meet up with 7 of the students that are doing the school this year (there are only 12 total), & it was really incredible to get some questions answered, hear their experiences, & see how close they are. It really helped to talk with them & they were also very welcoming & encouraging.
Monday morning I got to school at 8am (can you believe I actually got up early?!)...I got to meet Kal, the director & sit in on the morning worship & a couple of Bible classes. Then Kal pulled me aside & I got to talk with him about the specifics of the program, & my parents talked with one of the elders/school teachers about the church & doctrine. All of us felt really good about the church & the school Biblically. We had a break for lunch & then Kal pulled out his bass & had me play along for a sort of "audition." He said not to worry, that I'm definitely good enough musically to attend the school, so that was a huge relief. He also talked with me about the musical side of the school & explained that each student gets private lessons with a qualified instructor every week...one of the "qualified instructors" being Lori Peters (Skillet's former drummer)! Which would pretty much be amazing.
Overall though, the school definitely seems like it would be an incredible experience both spiritually & musically...I need to pray some more about it, but after talking with people from the church & my parents, I feel pretty confident that I will be going there in the fall. Pray for me though for guidance in this big decision, & that everything will work out as God wants it to!

Big Changes Coming...
One week from today, I will be in Kenosha, Wisconsin checking out a school that I might be attending in the fall. I'm really excited. And really scared. The idea of doing something I love every single day & drastically improving is awesome. The idea of not being very good because I've only been drumming for 6 months, & being so far away from my family & not knowing anyone, is really really scary. I'm really nervous...it helps to think that it's only for a year, & I'm sure I will meet some people that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. It's just weird because I've never been so far away from my family & Isaac before...& it's been about 5 years since I've had an 8-3 school schedule. The whole thing is so exciting & nerve-wracking I'm not sure what to think yet. And that's even assuming I'm good enough to get in. Pray for me.
Nothing much going on lately...just trying to save up some money, & practicing like crazy. I'm seeing Skillet again right after I get back from Kenosha, & I'm really hoping Scottyrock will get us VIP passes again so we can watch from the stage. If not, I'm sure he will hook us up with something equally as cool. I don't know why I worry. Scotty is the best. It will be nice to talk to Jen & Korey again after I've had a chance to take a look at the school too. Looks like it's going to be me, Cristen, John, & Angela from OG going to the show. Rain, Rain, Go Away...
It's pouring out. And freezing cold. I miss summer.
My life has been very uneventful lately...sorry to disappoint. Haha. Mom & Dad got back from NYC last night, sounds like Alli is doing good & staying busy. She'll have something like 4 shows a day with one day off until Decmber 30 now. I'm excited to go over Thanksgiving, there's a Sam Ash music store in Times Square I want to check out & the Museum of Natural History is doing this huge exhibit on horses that I'm excited to see. Plus I have a friend in Brooklyn that will be fun to visit.
I went to lunch with Mom & then to the little music store here in O-Town to get a felt thingy for my cymbal. It's funny because that store used to be a t-shirt shop & I remember going in there to order my basketball jersey & there were all kinds of t-shirts all over the walls & hanging from the ceiling. Now there are guitars all over the walls & music ads hanging from the ceiling. It was kind of amusing how it was the same & yet so different.
I talk about my drumming on here alot. Sorry if ya'll don't care about that, haha. Mostly because I'm going to talk about it more right now. Every time I sit down to practice it's like I come up with some new beat or begin to understand one that was frustrating before. I just can't believe how natural it feels, & for the one thousandth time I'm getting the little glimmer of hope that maybe I COULD be in a band. I want to reach people & witness to them through music, & I've never felt natural playing an instrument the way I do with the drums. And there are like four people I work with that want to get toegther & "jam" or "start a project"...I'm like, you do realize I started playing like 3 weeks ago, right? Haha. One of them (another drummer) offered to be the lead singer of my all-girl/one-guy band I will someday have. I almost said, "Great, so long as you don't have a problem wearing a dress!" But I stopped myself.
I also really want to take a trip to visit LLSOW still. I'd love to go to school for drumming there next year, & my friend Heidi said I would definitely be put on a worship team because they're desperate for drummers. Seems to me that most everyone plays guitar these days. Not me, I always like to be different. Haha. In fact, I strive for it most times. Plus I tried to learn guitar once, & I am DEFINITELY not coordinated enough!
